Ian Adelman has a lot of records. Hip-hop, downtempo, house, broken beat, reggae, and dub are among his favorites, but he likes other stuff too. Ian also has a sketchbook of sorts, Mirk.com. There you can find some nice pictures of his shoes as well as the ~Sfake~T Christo Gates. This set features ethnic/eclectic/downtempo/hip-hop beats. Adelman used to play frequently at Turntables on the Hudson, and still plays with DJ Nickodemus at events for our Wonderwheel Recordings label. Imagine the turntables/WW vibe, with a dose of Todd Terry/KenLou breaks, plus random surprises--that's one of his specialties. This early-nineties house set is a combination of Todd Terry, Strictly Rhythm stuff, MAW beats, Nervous, Murk, Vibe, some live-sounding stuff like T.U.B.A. and stuff on Talkin' Loud and Acid Jazz, as well as dubby UK tracks like those on William Orbit's Guerrilla label.
DJ Ayres (The Rub) recorded this exclusive set live at the Clocktower at WPS1 in April, 2005. Everything you need to know about DJ Ayres can be found online at www.djayres.com and www.itstherub.com.
Veteran British DJ/Producer Mr. C and Brooklyn's Francis Harris team up for a party at Superfreaq, London's hottest night. This exclusive mix highlights a fresh sound borrows textures from such primitive, analog synth-based styles of yesteryear as electro and acid and adds updated production techniques, with a focus on melodic song structures.
British DJ/MC and producer "Mr. C", best known as one half of 90s techno-rave duo, The Shamen, has teamed up with New York DJ Francis Harris, a rising star on the international electronic house music scene, to form Sycophant Slags. Deejaying together at London's Superfreaq club night and at underground spots around the globe, they have emerged in 2004 at the forefront of a renaissance in electronic-based dance music that has been sweeping Europe and is now making inroads in the US. This mix features several cuts that are due for release in early 2004 on hot underground labels like Sex On Wax, Rebel One, The End, Mr. C's own Superfreaq and Francis's Matter/:Form.
DJ Chicus (Redbud) and
DRM (Bastard Jazz) - two of Brooklyn's brightest producer/DJ/labelheads in the downbeat and dub genres - combined forces for this Happy-Hour session at Halcyon. This was their finale.

In a set recorded live in January 2006 at the Clocktower studios of WPS1, Cowboy Mark,
a DJ who started out in 1999 at bars around New York City, playing rock, soul and country (and he'd sneak in an occasional dance track whenever he could). He was a DJ for the early Motherfucker parties. In 2002, he became a resident DJ of the Aktion! party at Lit Lounge where he helped spawn the "disco punk" phenomenon, with Carlos D. of Interpol fame. He started organizing his own parties in 2003 with guests including Kevin Saunderson, Miss Kittin, Superpitcher, M.A.N.D.Y., A Guy Called Gerald, Ed DMX, Frankie Bones, DJ T, Plastique de Reve, Felix the Housecat, Cylob, 2Many DJs, Smash TV, Legowelt, Ada, Marco Passarani, Richard Fearless, John Selway, Lady Miss Kier and Rex the Dog. His primary goal is to get the people dancing, whether it's through current techno/electro/house dancefloor fillers, classic freestyle/acid house/rave anthems, obscure synth/post punk rarities or rockabilly, garage, punk and new wave. Catch him on internet radio every Monday 4-6pm EST on East Village Radio. Starting in 2006 you can also catch him as a resident DJ at least two Saturdays a month at the PHONO parties at Avalon. A familiar freaky face in New York night life, Roy Dank has been
playing in and around the city for the past several years. Connecting
the dots between punk funk, oddball disco, with bits of house, techno,
electro, funk and dub reggae thrown in for good measure, Roy likes to
play music that you won't normally hear, let alone make you sweaty and
wilin on the dancefloor. In 2003, he launched the Pop Your Funk monthly
with friend and respected DJ/Producer Brennan Green, and since its
inception, the boys have had played alongside Maurice Fulton, Chicken
Lips, Joakim, Martin Moscrop from A Certain Ratio, Lindstrm & Prins
Thomas, Andrew Weatherall (whose 3+ hour punk-disco set was legendary
to say the very least) and John Selway, amongst others.

Recent performances include the 2003 Sprite Liquid Mix Tour at Jones Beach Theatre, and the
2003 Hip-Hop Awareness Festival in Leipzig, Germany.

Jonny Trunk vs. Tim "Love" Lee in an exclusive tag-team set of sexy sounds and tasty beats from two Brit DJ eccentrics. Well-respected in the electronic music and DJ community for their distinctive brand of downtempo dirty beats and and far-out funk, Lee's Tummy Touch label is still going strong after nearly 10 years. The mantra for Jonny Trunk's Essex-based Trunk Records is "Music, Nostalgia and Sex." The label's output includes vintage porn soundtracks, rare and unreleased film music of the 60s and 70s and Jonny Trunk's own inspired funk entitled "Inside Outside," released in 2004. Jonny also hosts the "O.S.T." soundtrack show on Saturdays on Resonance FM in London, and catch him on WPS1's own film music show, "Selectors on Film."
